Design
We love to work on projects in the Snowy Mountains, not only because it is our home but because the climate allows us to really flex our muscles and deliver the benefits of our mass timber design and build service in an environment where the difference can really be felt.
The principles that guide our design work are in pursuit of building performance, including but not limited to passive solar and airtightness. Though we are a passive house builder these principles should guide any well designed home in The Snowy Mountains climate, not just a certified passive house.
We adore alpine architecture and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the local vernacular.
From the heritage alpine huts dotted throughout the Alps, to the modern-era 60s chalets at ski resorts, to recent notable architecture in the area, we are inspired by the strong utilisation of stone, corrugated metal and timber that pervades the architectural style of Jindabyne and the Snowy Mountains.
Our interiors naturally lean toward warm minimalism, but we are always excited to explore different directions based on our client’s taste.
Early Contractor
Involvement & Buildability Consultations
We have seen Early Contractor Involvement come in reaaaally handy when working in regional areas such as Cooma, Jindabyne and The Snowy Mountains in general.
We’ve crafted our ECI offering to include detailed feasibility analysis, value management and consultant procurement and management, among other important value-adds.
We acknowledge that it can add a little extra cost to the front end of a project, but we’ve seen it pay off big time.
In addition, we also offer Buildability Consultations to support the conversion of projects to mass timber, and general building input to design or the early stages of a project.
We are able to collaborate with external Architects and Designers as well as the Brother Nature Design team.
This process can be especially handy for detailed weather planning in the Mountains!
Build
We do things a little differently that most small builders out there.
Our preferred style of design and construction, mass timber, lends itself really well to design and build projects in the alpine climate of Jindabyne, Cooma and The Snowy Mountains, because it results in high performing buildings that cost (and waste) less operational energy.
Our mass timber design and build service is more than just a livelihood for our team - we find joy in the process of creation, collaboration, and resolution.
We are a licensed and registered class 2 builder.
